As a member club of Missouri Hockey, we are required to follow the rules and regulations defined by Missouri Hockey.
Club polices are rules and procedures that have been voted on by the board of directors. In the past, these policies have been stored within board meeting minutes. We are efforting to move all policies to this page, but as of now this page is incomplete. As the board clarifies previously voted policies or add new ones, they will be posted below.
Two coaches for each of the 10U, 12U, and 14U age classifications will be compensated for their services. This compensation includes a season salary, and reimbursement for mileage, hotel room, and meals on a per diem basis for out of town events. These coaches will coach the AA and A1 teams for each age classification. If in the boards season forecast there exists the likelihood of the existence of more or less than one AA or A1 team, the board will determine whether additional compensated coaches will be sought, or which teams will be selected to be assigned the compensated coach. The board at its discretion may choose to compensate additional coaches at any level of play. Mileage, hotel room, and meal per diem will not be provided for any coach who is related to a player on the team.
The club will seek out qualified impartial third party coaching for all levels of play. Impartial third party is defined as an individual who has no relationship through blood or marriage to any player on the team they would be coaching. The board at its discretion can at any time waive the impartial third party restriction. An example of a situation of waiver might be the discovery of an individual who possesses a relationship to a player on the team, who is deemed more qualified or acceptable to the board than an individual in the available pool of third party coaches. If no impartial third party individuals accepted as qualified by the board can be located, the board will summarily waive the impartial third party restriction.
All fundraising is 100% voluntary. No team member/family shall be compelled or mandated to participate in any fundraising activity by team vote, nor be forced to “buyout” of any activity at any price, without exception. All team members/families shall only be responsible for their pro-rata share of team expenses for the season and are thus free to meet the financial obligation however is best for them.
As a matter of practice, team fundraising must comply with the following:
- Fundraising ideas shall be presented to the entire team so that all members have the opportunity to participate. Prior to solicitation for an “in” or “out” by family decision, a best estimate of “up front” costs must be disclosed.
- Team members/families will opt “in” (participate) or “out” (not participate) of all team fundraising activities by email to the team manager.
- Team members/families that opt in are committed and cannot back out @ a later date if they change their mind. If there are expenses associated with putting on the fundraiser, they will write a check up front to cover the expenses/costs associated with the event. These funds will be kept in a separate fundraiser ledger.
- If the fundraiser is large scale in nature, i.e. mouse races, the participants will determine the profit sharing arrangement .
- For team members/families that opt out, they have no involvement. As far as they are concerned, the fundraiser doesn’t exist. They will not cover expenses for the event or share in the profits generated.
Late Payment Policy
All installment payments will be made via automatic draft on a monthly basis. They will be charged to the card on record with the club member and will continue on the payment plan outlined in the registration process. It is the responsibility of the member to make sure payments are made and account remains in good standing.
If a member account becomes 60 days delinquent at any time, the player will be removed from their team until the account balance is brought back to “current.” Member will not be permitted to practice, play in any games or participate in any tournaments with the team. In addition, player will not be permitted to register for any additional St. Peters programs (camps, pond hockey, etc.) until season dues for delinquent account are paid in full.
Should an account refuse to pay, the member/player will be put on the “no play” list with MO Hockey. This means that the member/player will not be able to register for any other USA Hockey Organization until account balance is settled/paid in full to St. Peters Hockey Club.
The expectation is for members to follow the monthly installment schedule agreed to during the registration process. However, the club understands that situations may arise that may cause an account to become delinquent. Members may, at any point, contact the Treasurer or Club Business Manager, to work out an alternative payment arrangement, if necessary. All situations/discussions remain confidential and are shared on a need to know basis. In the event of extreme financial hardship, the Treasurer or Club Business Manager should be contacted to discuss a solution.
Locker Room Policy
In addition to the development of our hockey players and enjoyment of the sport of hockey, the safety and protection of our participants is central to Saint Peters Hockey program’s goals. Saint Peters adheres to USA Hockey’s SafeSport Program as a means to help protect its participants from physical abuse, sexual abuse and other types of misconduct, including emotional abuse, bullying, threats, harassment and hazing. To help prevent abuse or misconduct from occurring in our locker rooms, Saint Peters has adopted the following locker room policy. This policy is designed to maintain personal privacy, reduce the risk of misconduct in locker rooms, and for mixed-gender teams, to provide appropriate privacy for all players as well as fair opportunities for the players to receive coaching.
At the Saint Peters Rec Plex South rink, there are nine (9) locker rooms available for our program’s use. Each of the South rink locker rooms 1 and 2, 3 and 4, 5 and 6, and 7 and 8 shares a restroom and shower area with its respective locker room. The ninth locker room resides between locker rooms 2 and 3, has no restroom attached. At the Saint Peters Rec Plex north rink, there are four (4) locker rooms available for our program’s use. Some teams in our program may also travel to play games at other rinks, and those locker rooms, rest rooms and shower facilities will vary from location to location. Saint Peters Hockey team organizers will attempt to provide information on the locker room facilities in advance of games away from our home arena. At arenas for which you are unfamiliar, parents should plan to have extra time and some flexibility in making arrangements for their child to dress, undress and shower if desired.
Locker Room Monitoring
Saint Peters Hockey typically uses locker rooms and changing areas no more than 30-45 minutes before and after practices and games. This allows for direct and regular monitoring of locker room areas. Consistent with USA Hockey’s Safe Sport program, a coach or designated adult (parent) who has completed SafeSport training and Missouri Hockey’s background screening, must check out a key for their team’s assigned locker room. The coach or designated adult should obtain from the facility the assigned locker room key, unlock the locker room, and ensure it is empty. The coach or designated adult should not enter the locker room with a player (other than their own child) until such time as another coach, designated adult, or additional player arrives. It is strongly recommended that (except in the case of emergency) two (2) coaches or designated and certified adults be present at all times that players are in the locker room. This practice/procedure should be maintained through departure from the locker room.
If a discussion by the coaches and/or designated adult is desired outside of the range of hearing of the players, it can be accomplished so long as the coach and/or designated adult is within arms-reach of the locker room. Regular and frequent checks should be made of the activities in the locker room at any time the coach and/or designated adult is outside the locker room. Any meeting or discussion with an individual player must have a second coach or designated adult in attendance.
Parents in Locker Rooms
Except for players of groups 8U and below, parents are discouraged from entering locker rooms unless it is truly necessary. If a player in an older age group needs assistance with their uniform or gear, if the player is or may be injured, or a player’s disability warrants assistance, the parent should request permission of the coach or designated adult to enter the locker room. If access by a parent of the opposite gender of the team occupying the locker room is requested, access should only be granted (except in the case of an emergency) after the entire team is no longer in a state of undress.
Naturally, with our youngest age groups it is often necessary for parents to assist the players getting dressed. We encourage parents to teach their players as young as possible how to get dressed so that players will learn as early as possible how to get dressed independently. In circumstances where parents are permitted in the locker room, coaches are permitted to ask that the parents leave for a short time before the game and for a short time after the game so that the coaches may address the players. As players get older, the coach may at their discretion prohibit parents from a locker room, in which case any required assistance by the parent will only be allowed outside the locker room.
Mixed Gender Teams
Some of our teams consist of both male and female players. It is important that the privacy rights of all of our players are given consideration and appropriate arrangements made. Saint Peters city ordinance, and Missouri and federal law should be adhered to relative to mixed gender locker room occupancy or restroom use. Should a player desire to or relevant law require that a player to change in a locker room separate from the balance of the team, a separate locker room in most instances can be checked out. If a separate locker room is desired or required but not available, then the players will take turns using the only available locker room to change. Coaches should not engage in substantive coaching discussions to the team until all players are permitted in the locker room. We understand that these arrangements may require that players arrive earlier or leave later to dress.
If however, the coach prefers the team not dress separately, Saint Peters also endorses a “minimum attire policy”. This policy would at the coaches discretion require that all players arrive at the rink (or at least do not enter the dressing room) wearing a base layer of minimum attire (e.g., shorts and t-shirt, or hockey base layer), which may be under their other clothing. Then, all players may be permitted in the same locker room (and may put the remainder of their gear on) so that no players are required to undress in front of players of the opposite gender.
Cell Phones and Other Mobile Recording Devices
Cell phones and other mobile devices with recording capabilities, including voice recording, still cameras and video cameras, are not permitted to be used in the locker rooms. If phones or other mobile devices must be used, they should be taken outside of the locker room.
Prohibited Conduct and Reporting
Saint Peters Hockey prohibits all types of physical abuse, sexual abuse, emotional abuse, bullying, threats, harassment and hazing, as described and defined in the USA Hockey SafeSport Handbook, and or Saint Peters Rec Plex policy, Saint Peters City Ordnance, and Missouri Law. Participants, employees or volunteers in Saint Peters Spirit may be subject to disciplinary action for violation of these locker room policies or for engaging in any misconduct or abuse or that violates the USA Hockey SafeSport Policies. Refunds (minus a 5% administration fee) may be requested up until placement on a team. Leaving the club after being placed on a team results in forfeiture of initial deposit amount. Partial refunds due to significant injury with over 60 days of the season missed or relocation are often honored but must be requested through the club treasurer.
