Recreational Hockey

Our Recreational program is for 10U players that are either new to hockey or would like a lower cost option with less time commitment then the Travel Program. New players that want more ice time development should register for the Travel Program.

NEW FOR 2021-22 SEASON - Recreational hockey will only be offered at 10U and for players that have less than two years of ADM or league play experience.

Ages

This program is for players who turn 9 during this calendar year up to players who turn 10 this year. Players should have less than 2 years experience playing hockey.

When

Registration will open in June and close in Mid August. Evaluations are held in August. Practices begin after Labor Day. Season runs until the middle of March. Games typically start in at the end of September and the league season ends with the playoffs in late February.

Where

Your practices and home games will be played at the RecPlex in St. Peters, Wentzville Ice Arena, and occasionally at other ice complexes.

Practices

Each player averages 2 ice times each week that are used for practices and home games. We do not run a set schedule, so you can practice any day of the week. Practices typically no earlier than 5:15 on weekdays. Skills session practices with our Skills instructor are also included in your practice allocation above. Once the games begin Recreational teams may have weeks without any team practices since ice maybe used for home games and skill sessions.

Games

Teams in this program play full-ice games. Missouri Hockey League is comprised of area teams and will require your team to play Declaration Games to determined which League Level your team is placed. The Missouri Hockey League determines also how many games you will play. Typically your team will play approximately 4 Declaration games and 12-18 Season league games. Your team may also vote to participate in both local and travel tournaments to pick up additional games.

Jerseys

Players in this program must purchase our club jerseys. You can find more information about jerseys under Resources.

Additional Costs

Your Team Manager will be required to maintain a team bank account to cover expenses such as tournament cost, referee fees, travel permits and coaching registrations. At the start of the season each family will be asked for a deposit to get that account started. The amount varies by team, but it is typically around $100.
